Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola Graces Ogun State 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Celebration.

The presence of the erstwhile Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola OFR, at the Special Parade and Wreath-Laying Ceremony to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration Day added profound depth and national symbolism to the solemn event held at the Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Thursday, January 15, 2025. His attendance was not merely ceremonial; it was a quiet yet powerful statement of enduring patriotism, respect for sacrifice, and unwavering solidarity with the men and women who laid down their lives in defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty.

In a ceremony marked by precision, dignity and deep emotional resonance, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola OFR joined the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Her Excellency, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele FNSE, who represented the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON. The event brought together serving and former political office holders, revered traditional rulers, commanders and personnel of all security agencies, veterans, families of fallen heroes and numerous guests, all united by a shared sense of gratitude and remembrance.

Delivering the goodwill message of the Ogun State Government through his deputy, Governor Dapo Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s firm commitment to improving the welfare and well-being of the families of deceased soldiers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty. He emphasised that the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes must never be reduced to annual rituals, but must continuously reflect in concrete policies, humane support systems and sustained care for those they left behind.

The governor further pledged the continued support of his administration for veterans of the Nigerian Army and other arms of the Armed Forces, acknowledging that their selfless service, resilience and discipline remain the bedrock upon which peace, unity and stability are built in Ogun State and across the nation. According to him, the relative peace enjoyed today is a living testimony to the courage and patriotism of those who stood firm in moments of national peril.
