Iran Deploys Advanced Khorramshahr-4 Missile in IRGC Underground Missile Facility.

Iran has deployed its latest long-range ballistic missile, the Khorramshahr-4, at one of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) underground missile facilities, according to state-run Press TV. 

The announcement, made on Thursday, emphasizes Iran’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its missile capabilities amid rising regional tensions.

The Khorramshahr-4 is regarded as one of Iran’s most advanced missiles. Reports indicate that it has a range of approximately 2,000 kilometers (1,240 miles) and can carry a warhead weighing up to 1,500 kilograms.

Experts note that the missile’s design allows it to deliver both conventional and potentially other types of warheads with high accuracy, enhancing Iran’s strategic deterrence posture.

State media highlighted that the operational deployment of the Khorramshahr-4 at the underground missile city took place on Wednesday, coinciding with a broader shift in the Iranian armed forces’ strategic doctrine.

According to Iranian officials, the military is transitioning from a primarily defensive posture to a more offensive-oriented strategy, a move intended to reinforce deterrence and signal Iran’s readiness to respond to potential threats in the region.

“The operational deployment of the Khorramshahr-4 in missile cities… carries a clear message to regional and extra-regional adversaries,” Press TV reported, underscoring the missile’s strategic significance. Analysts say the deployment demonstrates Tehran’s commitment to maintaining and advancing its missile program despite international scrutiny and ongoing sanctions targeting its military development.

The IRGC has, over the years, developed a network of underground missile facilities, often described as “missile cities,” which serve as secure bases for storing, maintaining, and launching a range of short, medium, and long-range missiles. These facilities are designed to withstand potential preemptive strikes and ensure Iran’s ability to project power across the Middle East and beyond.
