Kano 2027: Our Party Aspirants Have Agreed to Work With You — Ganduje Welcomes Gov Yusuf to APC.

Immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has assured Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, of victory in the 2027 governorship election, declaring that the party will fully support him for a second term.
Ganduje gave the assurance while formally welcoming Governor Yusuf into the APC, describing his return as a significant political development that would strengthen unity within the party and reposition it for future electoral success in Kano State.
According to the former APC chairman, all governorship aspirants within the party in the state have agreed to put aside personal ambitions and work with Governor Yusuf ahead of the 2027 election. He said the decision was reached in the interest of party cohesion, stability and continuity of governance.
“Our party aspirants have agreed to work with you. The APC is united behind your leadership, and we are confident of victory in 2027,” Ganduje said.
He noted that Yusuf’s entry into the APC automatically makes him the leader of the party in Kano State, in line with the party’s tradition of recognising sitting governors as state leaders. Ganduje urged party members to remain loyal, avoid internal divisions and support the governor’s administration.
The former Kano governor described Yusuf’s defection as historic, stressing that it marked a new chapter in the state’s political landscape. He expressed optimism that the move would bring political stability and accelerate development efforts across the state.
Governor Yusuf, who was elected in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), recently parted ways with the party following internal disagreements. His return to the APC has triggered a wave of realignments, with reports of lawmakers and political stakeholders moving with him into the ruling party.
The development has drawn reactions from key APC figures in the state, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who has called on party members to close ranks and work together to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Political analysts say the endorsement of Governor Yusuf by Ganduje signals a major shift in Kano politics and could significantly reshape the balance of power in the state, as the race for 2027 gradually gathers momentum.
