Lagos Taskforce Arrest Suspect Over Attack, Extortion of Motorist on Oshodi–Iyana Ipaja Road.

The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce/Anti-Crime Squad has arrested a suspected thug for allegedly attacking and forcefully demanding money from an innocent motorist whose vehicle broke down along the busy Oshodi–Iyana Ipaja Road.
The arrest was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who said the suspect was apprehended following reports of harassment and extortion along the corridor. Other members of the gang involved in the incident are currently at large.
According to the commissioner, the victim was accosted after his vehicle broke down on the road, a situation the suspect and his accomplices allegedly exploited to harass and intimidate him before demanding money.
The arrested suspect has denied involvement in the attack. The man claimed he was merely waiting to board a bus in the area and was not part of those who harassed the stranded motorist.
However, the victim countered the claim, insisting that the suspect was indeed one of the five thugs who attacked and extorted him. He said the gang fled the scene when attention was drawn to their actions, leaving the suspect behind, leading to his arrest by operatives of the taskforce.
Confirming the development, Wahab said the suspect has been detained and will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.
He reiterated the state government’s zero tolerance for street violence, harassment and extortion, warning criminal elements to desist or face the full weight of the law.
