OGITECH, IGBESA IS NOT ON FIRE

The attention of the Management of Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH) has been drawn to a photograph currently circulating on social media and other digital platforms, depicting the school gate allegedly engulfed in fire.
In the statement released and signed by Gbadebo, Adebayo Kolawole, the Public Relation Officer on behalf of the Management, “the Management hereby categorically states that the said photograph is NOT real and DID NOT originate from Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa.
“The image is AI‑generated and does not represent any past or present incident within the Institute.”
The release enjoined members of the public, parents and staff to disregard the said image with the accompany information.
“Members of the general public, students, parents, staff, alumni, and all stakeholders are therefore strongly advised to disregard the image and any accompanying misleading narratives as they are false, baseless, and intended to misinform the public and tarnish the image of the institution.”
The statement went on to warn characters behind such action, its publication and sharing to desist or risk appropriate legal action. It also pointed out the genuine medium of communication by the Institution while appreciating the cooperation of the general public in curbing the spread of false news directed at the institution.
“Furthermore, the Management wishes to warn individuals and platforms involved in the creation, publication, sharing, or further circulation of this fake image that such actions constitute the dissemination of false information and are capable of causing public panic and reputational damage.
“Appropriate legal actions will be taken against anyone found culpable, in accordance with relevant laws guiding misinformation, cybercrime, and defamation in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“For verified and accurate information about Ogun State Institute of Technology, the public is advised to rely solely on the institution’s official communication channels.
“The Management appreciates the cooperation of the public in helping to curb the spread of false and misleading information.”
