Fayemi Denies Secret Political Meeting With Kwankwaso.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has dismissed reports claiming he held a closed-door political meeting with former Kano State Governor and NNPP leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing the story as false and misleading.

In a statement issued by his media office, Fayemi clarified that contrary to claims circulating on social media, no secret or private political meeting took place between him and Kwankwaso. He urged the public to disregard what he described as deliberate misinformation aimed at creating unnecessary political speculation.

Fayemi explained that the viral report was based on an old video clip showing him exchanging greetings with Kwankwaso at a public event, which was wrongly portrayed as evidence of a clandestine meeting. According to him, the only time he has encountered Kwankwaso in the past year was at the public book launch of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, an event attended by many political figures.

The former chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum stressed that his relationship with Kwankwaso is purely personal and dates back to their time as governors, noting that friendship should not be misconstrued as political collaboration.

Fayemi further stated that he maintains cordial relationships with individuals across different political parties and regions, adding that such relationships do not translate into secret alliances or negotiations.

He concluded by cautioning against the growing trend of politicising personal interactions, especially as the country gradually moves toward the 2027 general elections, warning that unfounded claims only deepen political tension and misinformation.
